Michael, at least you admit to your camera's mistake. Most people would just throw it out and not share it at all but then we would have missed another one of you great shots.

I like the fact that the deer is out of focus, it leaves one more thing for the mind to fill in.

That's our fate with nature shots.... With an autofocus sometimes you don't fare any better, it might have focussed on the fence anyway, plus you often get a shutterdelay.

The "mistake" makes the shot more interesting in fact... There are plenty of deer shots, some of them made with extra long focus lens and tripods, with the deers doing amazing things. Your shot becomes a bit disturbing because it leaves what would be the obvious subject of interest completely out of focus -but still recognizable- and instead focuses on a mundane object. I guess that if the photo had been intentional we could be discussing its philosophical implications etc. All and all, an interesting shot. By teh way, I would try to make it B&W to emphasize the "disturbing" effect.

No No Michael! You are suposed to tell us that this WAS the shot that you were going for, with focus on the snowy post and the teasing image of the Deer in the background..... OK, that's what I would have said anyway.... ha ha

I actually think this image is all the more interesting and tantalising with the deer in the background, as my eyes and brain have to form the image and work a little. I love it, and it works so well in my humble opinion.

Please make the cheque out for the usual amount and forward it to my Swiss bank account....
