A Moment in Photographic History:
Francois Arago died October 2, 1853. Who was Francois Arago? Well may you ask. He was a French physicist and inventer who had invented a photographic process before Daguerre but was persuaded by Hippolyte Bayard to keep his discovery a secret. But no sour grapes. As the secretary of the Academy of Sciences and an influential politician, Arago was instrumental in getting funding for Daguerre. He saw the importance of photography to "copy the millions and millions of hieroglyphics which entirely cover the great monuments at Thebes, Memphis and Carnac, etc. would require scores of years and legions of artists; whereas with the daguerreotype a single man would suffice to bring this vast labour to a happy conclusion.”

A Photographic Quote of Note:

One time a guy handed me a picture of himself, and he said, 'Here's a picture of me when I was younger.' Every picture of you is of when you were younger. Here's a picture of me when I am older. You son of a bitch, how'd you pull that off? Let me see that camera..."

All Images are Copyright ©Michael Rawluk. Just thought I would say that although why anyone would want to use them is beyond me. Well, Colette Amelia does on occasion but she always gives me a kiss after. So, if you want to use an image ... we can work something out ;-)
