In Memory of C.M. Blessing A Native of Ohio Aged 30 years Was Murdered Near This Spot May 31 1866 _____________________________________
A Moment in Photographic History: Richard Daintree died June 20, 1878. Daintree was an Australian photographer and geologist. He was the first North Queensland Government geologist. Daintree was a pioneer in the use of photography during field trips and his photographs formed the basis of Queensland's contribution to the Exhibition of Arts and Industry in 1871. Half of the landmarks in North Queensland seem to have been named after him including the town of Daintree, Queensland, the Daintree National Park, the Daintree River, the Daintree Rainforest (nominated for the World Heritage List) and the Daintree Reef. - A Photographic Quote of Note: Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still. - - - - - - - Dorothea Lange
