A Moment in Photographic History: A USAnian photographer who shot exquisite portraits of Native North Americans, Adam Vroman was born April 15, 1856. He also opened and operated a book and photographic supply store in Pasadena, California. That store is still running. A Photographic Quote of Note: Let us first say what photography is not. A photograph is not a painting, a poem, a symphony, a dance. It is not just a pretty picture, not an exercise in contortionist techniques and sheer print quality. It is or should be a significant document, a penetrating statement, which can be described in a very simple term - selectivity. - - - - - - Berenice Abbott

Unusual, interesting, abstract? whatever it is it's been photographed very well.

The reflected sun and clouds give this a feel of a 'time portal' to another world -- perhaps a kinder, gentler place. I am tempted to step in, but why don't you go first Michael?!

Very mysterious, good postprocessing.

You've got me puzzled with the title as it looks like a small pond with sun glinting on the water at the edges and a reflection of sky and clouds.
Your processing has given it an almost 3D effect at the pond edges.....very clever!

All right, I'll bite. What the blank is this? I thought it was a vault for burial but who would be buried in such a desolate place? I'm going back to look at the field of gold, now. Was this on a roof?

Wonderful textures here Michael! I think the perspective is throwing everyone off of what it is!! I may be wrong but I believe that wonderful, gravelly, rusty texture is on the ground - with a lens as wide as 47 mm, that you could focus upwards from the ground. With the lens tilted and not vertically flat (angle of view) you have done a wonderful wide angle distortion of a window on a wall. Hence the inward tilting frame around the glass!! I dislike wide angle distortion when it is careless or accidental - simply because the photographer couldn't or wouldn't move, and ends up with inward tilting parallel verticals. Whatever! it is a great example of optical illusion! ;-)
