The grayscale really highlights the intricacies of the tree rings – that lower log appears to be a century old. This is also a nice abstract of an 8 :-)

Your photos are very eclectic in terms of subjects - I think this is one of your best (although I do like the personality in the Eliana Cuevas portrait as well) - here the great textures win out!
