Hungarian physicist Dennis Gabor, who died February 9, 1979, was awarded the Nobel Prize for the invention of holography.
This black and white image characterizes how snow is so unique. It amazes me how it surrounds and 'catches hold' of things, and as a consequence highlights and even redefines what you are viewing. Terrific illustration.
While I can addmit most of your fantastic shots and comments about history of photograpghy, that one for me is hard to tie to photography, and especially with holography... sorry
