I was shooting a magician the other night, looking at the manual dexterity that it takes to pull off some of those stunts, and was amazed at the inventiveness of the human mind. Also by it depends up a gullible viewer. - A Moment of Photographic History: John Dillwyn Llewelyn was born January 12, 1810 Swansea, Wales. In 1856 he discovered the Oxymel process, an early form of dry plate photography.

Really strong 'punch' to this image; black background really effective here.

Truly excellent image. I love the strong colours, contrast and the whole composition. Magic tricks, hmmmm…. Please forgive my rambling, and do ignore it if it bothers you, but it's the debater in me again, can't resist a good discussion, I'm afraid.....and this is a good subject worthy of discussion, imho.... I appreciate your text, but am not sure I'd agree with the word "gullible" here for us viewers, really. It seems to suggest something less than honourable on the part of the magician (and stupidity on the part of us viewers). Not that I can defend all magicians, nor want to, but at least the magician (used here in the generic sense) is being honest that at the end of the day everything we see them pull off is a magic trick, rather than trying to pass off something fake as real (unlike, unfortunately, quite many other tradesmen/practitioners we have in society nowadays). Some of these tricks (not sure about cards, though…I’m definitely not an expert here) take enormous skill and hard work to undertake, and I do admire the years of training and practice (as I do the training and practice involved in many other noble skills and professions) that the really good magicians have undergone to be able to do such tricks that most of us ordinary ‘laymen' would fail miserably at, at least initially!....... But undoubtedly, in the photographic sense, this is a truly superb capture, Michael.
