I went to the Armistice Day or Remembrance Day ceremony today.
It was bitterly cold. The wind just cut right through.
It is cold, I thought to myself. But as least I am not freezing in a trench knee-deep in mud and blood and gore and shit and piss and puke.
And tears.
I appreciate your comments and constructive criticism.

Totally agree with your ...and comments. You forgot on thing though. Some one in another trench nearby trying to kill you. Lest we forget.

@ROB: Yes, I forgot that bit. The thing is, you are trying to kill a person and that person is trying to kill you and you don't know each other. Have no argument with each other. The people is the trenches are fighting a war that is not us against them. It is us against us.
Very True and as always, very moving.
Thank You Michael.

Another tear in my eye Michael... profoundly moving. I think for me it's the red serge on the RCMP officer with his head bowed... just a wealth of emotion from that simple image.

This is an incredibly striking image and your words speak right to the core of our ongoing ‘survival’ as ‘humans’. I am deeply grateful, Michael. Thank you.

Wow! Excellent...

Now you've really done it - captured the moment perfectly! The selective coloring, for me, represents the blood that was shed by all the soldiers. My one hope is that I live long enough to see such insanity end in this world, and peace and love to take its place. Bravo Michael!

Good picture and photojournalism. Have you tried to put some color on the other soldier sitting in front of the monument? I thought it might look good. If i knew you guys had this holiday i would have come up there and take some shots myself.
