As we drove to the pond, my friend was telling about how she went to this very same place about 30 years ago. It was a school field trip during which they were learning about how a the vegetation in a pond rots and raises the bottom until the pond becomes a meadow.
Well, lo and behold, the pond has diminished greatly and is mostly meadow now. The muddy part seen will soon be grassed over.
The only thing keeping what is lerft of the pond is a family of beavers.

Michael,
Great picture and story to go with it. Those colors make me long to be in the woods. But after all, isn't that what we want as artists? To stir some emotion?
You sure did this time.
Thanks.
